It all depends on your perception, or where you sit. This is demonstrated clearly with the debate at present between the CA Rugby Union and the Rugby Players Association. Two different perspectives and two different interests notwithstanding both parties have the best interests of CA Rugby in general at heart. A better live demonstration of the need for independent advice would be hard to find at present. Being close to the action inevitably creates a bias toward the problem at hand. In legal circles that is summed up by the very old expression “ A lawyer that acts for himself has a fool for a client”. Whatever your problem there is always merit and value in getting an independent assessment to give a neutral perspective of the issues and options open for selection.
